“Evan Gattis who?”, said Topps.

One of the best stories of the season, so far, is Braves rookie Evan Gattis. His remarkable story has been covered virtually everywhere, starting with a great story from the AJC’s David O’Brien during spring training of 2012. All this publicity and Topps still hasn’t taken notice of the powerful young catcher. Topps has bestowed a single card of the young man, in 2012 Minor League Heritage. A set that is generally ignored by the collecting population at large.

I guess it isn’t really that big a deal. Sure, there are a number of Braves fans dying for such a card. In fact, the sheer amount of national press he’s gotten bodes well for the selling price of his first autograph cards. It’s not like he’s going to win rookie of the year, right?

Oh. Maybe he will. That’s the second month in a row, right?

I can’t wait for the next article about the genius of the Bowman Scout.
