Card Show Pickup #8: 1956 Braves

You didn’t think I would stop with the Aaron, did you?

I know Tanner managed the Braves during the eighties, but to me, he’ll always be the Pirates manager. I loved, and still love, the 1979 Pirates. They were a BAD ASS baseball team. Pops, Cobra and Tekulve were my favorites. Hell, Stargell is one of my favorites to have played on any team.

These were from the bargain box, like most of the 50s cards I bought. The 1955 and 1956 sets are so simkilar it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I will anyway. I’m going with 1956, because I like the backgrounds better than the plain colors used in 55. (That said, the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that the 1954 set is the best ever. And the set doesn’t use real, or fake real backgrounds. There are no hard and fast rules to this stuff.)
