I’m sure there are poets that have written thousand word epics about the 1960 Topps set, but while I like the set, there are just some things about it that seem gaudy to me. Well, there’s one. The alternating colors in the team name is just a bit too loud for my taste. (Again, it’s still better and more easily identifiable than any set Topps has put out since the junk wax days.)
As for the cards themselves, I love the rounded corners on the coaches card, the surface wear on Red Schoendienst’s face, and the upper left corner of the Burdette card. (It’s also another example of Topps getting his first name wrong.) I have no thoughts or feelings about the Mel Roach card other than I’m happy to have it.
